I have developed for a few years a photographic work based on the creation of abstract compositions (prints) starting from a figurative material (negative).

Here are the guiding principles :

[] To break the traditional space of photography (space-time unit), by mathematical operations over space and time. From same or several shots, I use various methods such as reversed multiplications, additions, symmetries, etc...

[] Rejection of the illusion depth in favour of a frontal space, to affirm the flat plan of photography.

[] To operate a slip of "the figuration towards the abstraction". To remove the concept of out of frame. To sublimate the photographic image into object. The edges (which cuts the image) becomes the contour of an object.

I proceed in three distinct stages :

The subjects which I work on when I shoot are taken in nature (rough objects) and in the universe of human industry (manufactured objetcs ). Marked framings determine sections of forms and spaces.

I use then average data processing which enable me to develop my work in a virtual space. Nothing is then never fixed, all the elements are flexible, dismountable. I simulate various solutions for a project and carries out a choice of which a method of manufacture in my dark room will rise.

My work is concretized under the action of the light and of chemistry in my darkroom. Prints take a life, growing rich by small errors, shifts, inhérants with the physicochemical properties. I use finally specific materials in relation to the subject, like metal for example.
